Waldensian and Methodist Synod/3. 8 per Thousand: transparency, social assistance, cooperation and development

Rome (NEV), September 6, 2017 – The Synod of the Methodist and Waldensian Churches approved the agenda related to the management of financial resources, the evaluation and the control of the 8 per thousand funds.

With regards to the 2014 income tax returns (as recently announced by the Ministry of Economy and Finance) the taxpayers’ signatures for the Methodist and Waldensian Churches were 514,628. Along with the unexpressed quota, the funds available for 2017 to the Waldensian 8 per thousand, represent a total of little more than 34 million Euros.

About the 60% of this figure, according to the Synodal mandate, is destined for projects in Italy while the 40% is for projects abroad. The 8 per thousand funds of the Waldensian Church are used for social, welfare, health projects, for the reception of migrants and refugees as well as for cultural and educational activities. Abroad projects are essentially for development cooperation.
