06Rome (NEV), September 6, 2017 – A document on ecumenism, the first since 1988, was presented to the Synodal Assembly. Professor Fulvio Ferrario, Dean of the Waldensian Theological Faculty, explained: “It is an inter and intra-confessional document elaborated by the Advisory Commission and doesn’t intend to be ‘prescriptive’, but wants to be a tool for reflection and study to be read in our congregations and together with our partners”.
“With the 500th Anniversary of the Luther’s Reformation, t06he ecumenical relations with the Catholic Church have surely strengthened and the paper wants to underline the new climate created by the pontificate of Francis. Nevertheless – concluded Ferrario – this doesn’t change the doctrinal approaches”, citing in particular the issues of Eucharistic hospitality, ministries and ecclesiology.
