Rome (NEV), September 28, 2018 – The academic year of the Adventist Institute of Biblical Culture in Florence opened on Friday, September 21. “I am not afraid” is the motto of the opening ceremony of the Faculty of Theology and of the Department of Italian Language, Culture and Art. “With no easy recipes or false illusions” declared Filippo Alma, director of the Institute, “in this new academic year, students and teachers, volunteers and staff of the Institute, will reflect together on the fear and fears that challenge and solicit our individual and collective daily life, starting from a Christian look over life”.
The Friday evening schedule included a reflection and singing in the historical Chapel “Villa Aurora” (in via del Pergolino, 12). The following Saturday morning, saw the celebration of community worship at the Adventist church and, at 4pm, the official opening ceremony was held again in the historic Chapel. The event ended with the concert-recital “Song of Songs”, at 8.30 pm, in the garden of Villa Aurora. Narrative voices and music composed and directed by Gabriele Nardoni, performed by the choir and by numerous members of the Florentine church and of the campus orchestra, “intertwined to narrate this particular book of the Bible in a new way”, explained the initiative’s release.
