Rome (NEV), April 3, 2020 – The Evangelization Department of the Christian Evangelical Baptist Union in Italy (UCEBI) announced, “The celebration of the Human Rights Week – in which the anniversary of the death of Martin Luther King falls – this year unfortunately cannot take place in the same form as always. We can nevertheless continue on the journey of affirmation of law and justice in every place on this planet, which we realize is increasingly interconnected”. The program was published on April 1 with all the initiatives planned for the 2020 Human Rights Week. All initiatives were obviously held on line, due to the restrictions imposed to counteract the corona virus.
“The guiding motto we had chosen for this week many months ago – reads the UCEBI website –
is “The Lord sent me to announce the release to prisoners”, clearly inspired by the verse of Luke 4: 18. A verse in which Jesus defines his mission and his own identity in the words of the prophet Isaiah”.
The Human Rights Week was established with an agenda of the 2012 UCEBI General Assembly. Each year it is dedicated to a specific theme, such as religious freedom in 2013, peace in 2014, the right to sing in 2017. T
