Rome (NEV), April 18, 2020 – The 1st Session of the XXIII Lutheran Synod, originally scheduled from April 30 to May 3 in Castellammare di Stabia (Naples), has been postponed due to the Corona virus pandemic.
This was announced by the President of the Synod of the Lutheran Evangelical Church in Italy (CELI), Georg Schedereit, together with the Vice-President Wolfgang Prader and the Consistory.
The new Synod will meet, for the first time in its history, in a “concentrated format” from 9 to 11 October in Rome, according to the CELI website.
“The 2020 Synod, under the theme ‘Choose = Wählen’, will face a path of strong internal renewal and will be a synod of ‘choice’. In fact, the presidency of the synod and the three lay members of the consistory are to be elected and the members of the various technical and control bodies at the helm of CELI are to be identified: the technical-financial Commission, the college of auditors and the college of conciliators”, explains CELI.
The “Parliament” of the Lutheran Evangelical Church in Italy is made up of 56 synodal members, belonging to the 15 communities distributed throughout the peninsula.
