Thus Heiner Bludau, dean of the Protestant Lutheran Church in Italy (CELI), in the aftermath of the anti-Semitic attack that interrupted the meeting in memory of Amos Luzzatto. Organized by the Ecumenical Activities Secretariat (SAE) of Venice, the local Evangelical Lutheran Community and the “Beit” House of Jewish Culture, the meeting is postponed to a date to be defined. “Numbers are something, other thing is reality – continues Dean Bludau -. Even if the attack of last February 7th was carried out ‘only’ digitally, it still highlights the need to take more seriously than what happens today, this anti-Semitism that raises its head and finds new ways to come out. To truly protect the Jewish population and fight against the scourge of anti-Semitism in all its forms, both culturally and socially, it is necessary to deal with determination above all with what happens in people’s heads”, concludes Bludau.
